Decreased senseitivity is an important reason why many parents don’t circumcise their kids. Social critics of the surgery say that its populatity is based more on tradition and religious belief than on medical necessity. Several recent studies in Africa showed that circumcision cut the AIDS rate by 60 percent. American and Canadian researchers led by Kimberley Payne found no difference between circumcised and uncircumcised men in the sensitivity of the penis. They induced sexual arousal by having men watch erotic films and measured the tempature of the penis by thermal imaging. There was no difference in arousal by senseitivity between cut and uncut men. Uncircumcised men had a lower penile temperature, but it increased more during arousal. This study showed that the popular belief of greater penile sensations in uncut men is an urband legend. Circumcision has no effect on the sensitivity of the penis during sexual arousal and may reduce the risk of deadly sexually transmitted diseases. Source - Journal Sexual Medicine, 4:667-674, 2007
